I’m an award-winning travel and lifestyle writer, editor and photographer based in Toronto, Canada (by way of Thunder Bay by way of Germany) with a journalism degree from Toronto Metropolitan University, where I also studied photography.
My work has been featured in consumer and trade publications, including Canadian Family, Post City Magazines, The Toronto Star and OHS Canada. My story, You’ll Never Be Blue in Colourful Curaçao, was awarded Best Feature Article in a Canada-based Trade Publication at the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s Media Awards in 2017. At the 2019 Caribbean Media Awards, I won the Oh Snap! Award for Best Photograph In Conjunction With A Feature Article for Discovering Another Side of Jamaica.
Some of my most memorable travel experiences include visiting with mountain gorillas in Rwanda, taking in the FIFA World Cup in Brazil, trekking Machu Picchu and getting a firsthand look at the positive impact tourism can have by visiting social enterprises in Nepal and India.
I cover the travel industry – sometimes in international destinations – as the managing editor of Canadian Travel Press and Travel Courier and as a contributing writer for Offshore travel magazine. I love telling stories about sustainable travel and the power of tourism.
Hi Ann, I just read your lovely Travel Courier piece on Austria that Brett Walker from Collette was kind enough to pass on to me! Thanks so much for this! Were you part of a press trip?
Hi Birgitta, I recently went on a trip with AmaWaterways on the Danube (https://www.travelpress.com/subscription/IDEA/044219_082919_tc/#?page=8), which led me to the Austria piece as I had lots of extra material and photos to work with from the days sailing there.
